F1 ACADEMY secures multi-year commitment from all 10 F1 teams; Cadillac joins in 2027
All 10 current Formula 1 teams have reaffirmed their multi-year commitment to sponsor a livery and driver in the F1 ACADEMY series. Additionally, the Cadillac Formula 1 team will join the all-female series as a sponsor starting in 2027. The series also updated 2027 regulations to allow high-potential drivers to compete for a third season, deepening its focus on talent development.
F1 ACADEMY and Formula 1 have announced that all 10 current F1 teams have reaffirmed their multi-year commitment to sponsor a livery and driver in the all-female series.
The agreement not only reiterates the sport’s deep commitment to increasing female participation in motorsport, both on and off the track, but also reflects the rapidly expanding and highly competitive pool of drivers competing for a seat in the F4-level series.
Further expanding the grid, the Cadillac Formula 1 team, which is set to join F1 in 2026, has confirmed that it will also join the F1 ACADEMY grid as a sponsor from 2027.
Focus on Talent Development
In addition to securing long-term team support, the series is implementing a new focus on deeper talent development. From 2027, drivers who have competed in the two previous seasons may be granted an exemption to race for a third season, in accordance with updated 2027 regulations. This new provision reflects a tailored approach to nurturing talent and will be granted exclusively to drivers whose performance indicates strong potential for continued growth.
Susie Wolff, Managing Director of F1 ACADEMY, emphasized the significance of the announcement: “The commitment of long-term support from all 10 current Formula 1 teams, and the addition of Cadillac to our grid from 2027, sends a powerful message about the future of F1 ACADEMY.”
Wolff added that the opportunity for high-potential drivers to compete in up to three seasons “will give standout drivers the support and platform needed to fully realise their potential, while ensuring that the F1 ACADEMY grid consistently features the very best female talent.”
The news highlights the continued global growth for F1 ACADEMY. Since its launch in 2023, the series has rapidly expanded its brand platform, with races broadcast in over 170 global territories and a seven-part documentary series on Netflix, F1: The Academy, produced by Reese Witherspoon’s production company, Hello Sunshine.
