Barça 3-1 Elche: back on track with a convincing win
FC Barcelona returned to winning form with a 3-1 victory over Elche at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys, signaling a much-needed boost in their La Liga campaign. Goals from Lamine Yamal, Ferran Torres, and Marcus Rashford sealed the triumph for Hansi Flick’s side, while Elche’s Rafa Mir managed to score the visitors’ only goal.
Despite the scoreline, Elche showed great determination, creating several opportunities that tested Barça’s defense. However, Wojciech Szczęsny produced key saves to maintain control of the match.
After the game, head coach Hansi Flick expressed satisfaction with the result but emphasized that there is still room for improvement. “I saw many things we did well, but also some that we need to work on,” Flick commented, highlighting his focus on maintaining consistency and tactical sharpness.
The match also marked two significant milestones for Barça players. Ferran Torres reached his 50th goal for the club since joining in 2022, a testament to his evolution and persistence in the blaugrana shirt. Meanwhile, defender Ronald Araújo made history by equalling Neymar’s 186 appearances, entering Barça’s all-time top ten list of players from the Americas — a group led by legends such as Lionel Messi, Ronaldinho, Rivaldo, and Luis Suárez.
Elsewhere in the club, Barça Femení suffered their first defeat of the season, losing 1-0 to Real Sociedad. Despite dominating much of the game, a penalty against them and a disallowed goal for offside denied them any points.
In the Segunda Federación, Barça Atlètic were held to a goalless draw by Girona B at Montilivi. The result saw them lose top spot in their group, despite creating several clear chances throughout the match.
With renewed confidence and individual milestones reached, Barça will look to build on this momentum as they continue their push across all competitions.
