Apple secures exclusive Formula 1 broadcast rights in the U.S. from 2026

Formula 1 has announced a landmark five-year deal with Apple, naming the tech giant as the sport’s exclusive broadcast partner in the United States beginning in 2026. The partnership brings together two global powerhouses in technology and motorsport, united by a shared commitment to innovation and entertainment.

The agreement marks Apple’s most significant move yet into live sports broadcasting, following the global success of F1: The Movie — an Apple Original Film released in cinemas and IMAX in June. The film, developed in collaboration with Formula 1 over three years, has grossed nearly $630 million worldwide, becoming the most successful sports movie in history. It will debut globally on Apple TV on December 12, 2025.

Building on that collaboration, Apple aims to use its extensive digital ecosystem to transform how fans experience Formula 1. In addition to streaming all Grands Prix, Qualifying, Sprint, and Free Practice sessions live on Apple TV, the partnership will integrate F1 content across Apple News, Apple Maps, Apple Music, Apple Sports, and Apple Fitness+.

Select races and all practice sessions will be available free on the Apple TV app, while F1 TV Premium — Formula 1’s dedicated streaming service — will remain accessible in the U.S. through an Apple TV subscription, at no extra cost for subscribers.

The partnership reflects a major strategic push to expand Formula 1’s fanbase in the United States, where interest in the sport has surged. The 2025 Global F1 Fan Survey found that nearly half (47%) of new U.S. fans have followed the sport for less than five years, with a majority aged 18–24 and over half female — demographics Apple is well-positioned to engage.

“This is an incredibly exciting partnership for both Formula 1 and Apple,” said Stefano Domenicali, F1’s President and CEO. “It will help us maximise our growth in the U.S. with innovative distribution and engaging content. After working together on F1: The Movie, we already know how powerful this collaboration can be.”

Eddy Cue, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Services, added: “We’re thrilled to expand our relationship with Formula 1 and give Apple TV subscribers front-row access to one of the world’s most dynamic sports. The 2026 season ushers in a new era for F1, and we’re excited to deliver premium, fan-first coverage in a uniquely Apple way.”

Further details on production, fan engagement tools, and product integrations across Apple’s platforms will be revealed in the coming months.
