Convened by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, the summit marks a key stage in international climate dialogue. Ambassador Mauricio Lyrio, Secretary for Climate, Energy and the Environment at Brazil’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, outlined the summit structure, including a plenary session and three thematic discussions: Forests and Oceans, Energy Transition, and 10 Years of the Paris Agreement: NDCs and Financing.

Ambassador Liliam Chagas, Brazil’s COP30 negotiator, emphasized the summit’s political significance, noting the urgent need to reverse rising global temperatures. The summit aims to generate political momentum and high-level attention for climate action.

The opening day features a plenary session, the Tropical Forests Forever Fund luncheon, thematic discussions, and an Amazonian reception hosted by President Lula. The second day continues the plenary session with additional thematic sessions on energy transition and Paris Agreement commitments.

The summit provides a platform for international dialogue, exchange of best practices, and strategic discussions on climate finance, emissions reduction, and adaptation measures. It highlights Brazil’s leadership in tropical forest preservation and its commitment to sustainable development.
