At the ENACT event in Abu Dhabi, Gecko Robotics presented ADNOC Gas CEO Fatema Al Nuaimi with the first robot manufactured in the UAE, symbolizing a milestone in the company’s push toward localizing high-tech production.

The partnership combines Gecko’s robotic inspection technology and its AI-driven Cantilever platform with AIQ’s expertise in deploying large-scale AI models within ADNOC’s digital ecosystem. The unified platform — named Inspection AI — is expected to generate more than $300 million in maintenance and inspection savings over the next five years by enabling predictive maintenance, minimizing shutdowns, and improving asset reliability.

Gecko’s Cantilever platform digitizes the entire asset-integrity process — from inspection to decision-making — by merging robotic inspection data with operational analytics. This system provides engineers with real-time visibility into asset health and allows them to query performance data through natural-language AI interfaces.

CEO Fatema Al Nuaimi highlighted the partnership as a key milestone in ADNOC Gas’s digital transformation strategy:

“Efficiency improvements, cost reduction, and safety enhancements are what we strive for in our day-to-day operations. Integrating robotics and AI into our operations marks a major milestone in that journey. This partnership demonstrates how we can leverage cutting-edge technologies to strengthen asset reliability, enhance safety, and set new benchmarks for operational excellence across our network.”

Jake Loosararian, CEO and Co-Founder of Gecko Robotics, said the collaboration represents a paradigm shift in energy operations:

“In the 19th century, train tracks fueled the Industrial Revolution. Today, data will be the same for AI. Becoming AI-native means building the rails that algorithms run on. That’s how we unlock the future of energy by turning AI hype into AI impact.”

AIQ CEO Dennis Jol added that the initiative takes AI from the cloud directly into the field:

“By embedding AI into robotic systems and inspection workflows, we are closing the loop from inspection to insight to action — creating the foundation for truly autonomous, intelligent operations.”

Under the three-year agreement, Gecko Robotics will lead AI integration and predictive analytics via Cantilever, while AIQ will expand deployment across ADNOC’s broader network. The first year focuses on joint data modeling and deployment, followed by scaled platform access and continuous optimization through 2028.

ADNOC Gas, which first partnered with Gecko Robotics in 2023, is now exploring local production of advanced robotic systems to meet growing demand across the ADNOC Group. The initiative aligns with the company’s strategy to use AI and digital technology to boost operational efficiency, reduce safety risks, and cut costs across maintenance and planned shutdowns.
